Manage & advanced

Once an object exists you can keep it up to date from its detail screen, and there are some advanced settings you can usually leave alone. This page covers both.

Everyday management

  • Edit the object — click Edit on the object to change its name, display name, description, group, and switches. (The system code can't be changed.)
  • Turn it on or off — use the availability switch to make an object available to people or take it out of use. The object shows an Active / Inactive badge.
  • Add a field — click Field definition (+). See Add a field.
  • Edit a field — click the field in the list to reopen and change it.
  • Reorder fields — change a field's Sort order number; lower numbers appear first.
  • Rename a field group — use the Edit button on a group heading.
  • Delete a field — open the field's row menu (the button) and choose Delete.

Import an object

The overview has an Import button. This brings in an object definition that was prepared elsewhere — handy for copying a setup between environments. If you've been given an import file, use this; otherwise you can ignore it.

Advanced configuration (safe to skip)

When you create or edit an object you'll see extra sections lower down the form. These let an administrator fine-tune behaviour, and the defaults are fine for a normal setup. In short:

  • Add / edit / delete — how entries get added, edited, and removed.
  • Export — whether entries can be exported or sent on.
  • Search — which fields the simple and advanced search use.
  • Inbox / connected data — how incoming and related data is handled.

You may also spot automation boxes and per-status overrides on a field. These are for advanced, rules-based behaviour.

caution

These advanced settings can change how an object behaves in ways that are hard to undo. If you're not sure, leave them on their defaults or check with your administrator before changing them.
