Port visits — the basics

A port visit is one call of a ship at a port — from the moment it's expected, through its arrival and time alongside, to its departure. The Port visits module lets you follow these calls: which ships are expected, which are in port now, and which have sailed.

Open it from the sidebar: Port visits. You need the Port visits permission to see it. The information here comes from maritime data and the port's own systems, so it's mostly there to view and track — you don't create visits by hand.

A few terms​

These short codes appear throughout and are worth knowing:

  • ETA — estimated time of arrival (expected).
  • ATA — actual time of arrival (it happened).
  • ETD — estimated time of departure (expected).
  • ATD — actual time of departure (it happened).
  • CRN — the visit's reference number.
  • Berth — the spot in the port where the ship lies.
  • Movement — one leg of the visit inside the port (for example arriving at a berth, shifting to another, or departing).
  • Port agent — the company handling the ship's call.
  • Port stay — how long the ship was in port.
