Find a vessel

The Vessels overview is where you search for ships. You can do a quick search or open the advanced search for more precise filtering.

At the top of the overview:

  1. Choose which detail to search on from the small drop-down (for example name, IMO, or MMSI).
  2. Type your term in the search box.
  3. Press Search.

The number of matches is shown next to the search box.

Click the chevron (down-arrow) next to the search box to open advanced search, where you can combine several criteria at once:

  • Name, Call sign, Fishery number, IMO, MMSI, and Ship tags.
  • Ship type category — pick one or more categories.
  • Length (LOA), GT, and DWT — each as a from / to range.

Fill in the fields you care about and press Search, or use Clear to reset them.

List or tiles​

Use the View selector to switch between a List and larger Tiles. It's just a display choice.

Open a vessel​

Click a vessel in the results to open its details.

tip

You usually don't need to add a vessel before you can find it — most ships are already in the shared data. Search first; only add a vessel if it really isn't there.
