Edit invoice details
The invoice details screen (open an invoice from the overview) shows the debtor card, the invoice lines, and the history. This page covers editing the header — the debtor and the invoice-level fields. To edit the lines themselves, see Work with invoice lines.
Editing the header
On the debtor card, use the edit (pencil) action to open the editor, where you can change fields such as the debtor, dates, references, currency, and remarks. Save your changes and the invoice reloads with the new values.
You need the Update invoices permission to edit an invoice.
When editing is locked
Some invoices can't be edited:
- A finalized invoice is locked. Its key fields show a message that the invoice has already been finalized/approved and can no longer be changed.
- Whether editing is allowed can also depend on the invoice flow's configuration.
Invoices that are pending verification or pending approval can always be edited. If you need to change a finalized invoice, you'll usually credit it and create a corrected one instead.
While an invoice is being processed, actions are paused for a few seconds and a banner is shown. Wait for processing to finish, then make your change.
